Yashamika Short, MSN, RN-BC, is a registered nurse certified in Nursing Professional Development with a clinical background in trauma and critical care. She holds a master of science in Nursing Education and has twenty years of experience.
Yashamika currently works for a large hospital system in Houston, Texas as a Nurse Residency Coordinator and Education Specialist. She also works as Adjunct Faculty for a large teaching hospital in Galveston. In her current positions Yashamika has mentored hundreds of nurses with various levels of experience. After several years as an educator and nurse residency coordinator she realized there were numerous things that reappeared year after year when interacting with new nurses. Because of that Yashamika decided to share the tools she provided new nurses to get them through their first year as a professional nurse. Those experience and interactions birthed the book Navigating Nursing: A Practical Guide for the Novice Nurse from A to Z.
Yashamika has presented locally and nationally on improving the new graduate nurse clinical experience and orientation.
